2 killed, 5 injured as tourist vehicle falls into ditch in Bandarban
BGB personnel rescued the injured tourists and sent them to Alikadam Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Two tourists were killed and five others injured after a tourist vehicle locally known as a 'Chander Gari' fell into a deep roadside ditch in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila this afternoon (5 October).
The accident occurred around 3:45pm as the vehicle was travelling from Dimpahar towards Tendhumukh on the Dimpahar-Tendhumukh road, according to a press release from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The vehicle lost control and fell into the ditch about 600 metres from the Tendhumukh BGB checkpost, the release said.
Upon receiving the news, members of the Tendhumukh BGB Camp, led by Lieutenant Colonel Md Yasir Arafat Hossain, commander of Balipara Battalion (38 BGB), rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
BGB personnel recovered two people dead and rescued five others with serious injuries. The injured were taken to Alikadam Upazila Health Complex for treatment, according to the release.
BGB informed Thanchi Police Station about the deaths for necessary legal action.
Administrative and legal procedures over the accident are underway, the release added.
