2 girls electrocuted in Rajshahi
They got electrocuted upon touching the refrigerator and were killed on the spot, family members said
Two girls were killed by electrocution in Rajshahi's Puthia upazila today (20 April).
The incident took place at Mongolpara village under Shilmaria union of the upazila this noon, said Officer-in-Charge of Puthia Police Station Kabir Hossain.
"The two girls who were cousins got electrocuted while playing. An unnatural death case will be filed with the police station," he added.
"The bodies will be handed over to the families after following legal procedures," said the OC.
The deceased were identified as Hamida Khatun, 8, daughter of Saidur Rahman from Mongolpara village and Saifa Khatun, 7, daughter of Soleman Ali from the same village.
According to family members of the deceased, the two kids were playing hide and seek at the yard of their house at noon.
At one point, the two girls went to their neighbour's house and tried to hide behind a refrigerator there. They got electrocuted upon touching the refrigerator and were killed on the spot, family members said.
Later, family members of the girls went to the spot searching for them and found their bodies, locals said.
