10-year-old boy injured in crude bomb blast while playing in Shariatpur

A 10-year-old child was injured after a crude bomb exploded while he was playing with it in Shariatpur's Jazira upazila this morning (29 May).

The injured child, Rahat, is the son of Shamsu Madbor of Mollakandi area in neighbouring Mulna union.
Confirming the incident, Jazira Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saleh Ahmed said police collected information about the explosive object from the scene.
"Who left the cocktail there is being investigated. Necessary legal steps are being processed in connection with the incident," he said.
According to family members and local sources, Rahat had gone to play in a chilli field beside his house when he found an object wrapped in scotch tape. Mistaking it for a toy, he picked it up and tried to open it. The object exploded with a loud bang.
The explosion severely damaged both of Rahat's hands up to the wrists.
Hearing his screams, locals rescued him. He was first taken to Jazira Upazila Health Complex, where doctors provided primary treatment before referring him to Dhaka for advanced care.
